Prof. Aye Aye Gyi
President’s Message
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Myanmar Society of Haematology, it is my great pleasure and honour to
welcome you to the 8 th Conference of our society, which will be held from February 28 th to March
1 st , 2026, at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Yangon, Myanmar.
The theme of this meeting is “Filling the Gap.” We recognize there is currently a significant gap
to bridge before we can reach the standards of “Global Haematology.” In today’s rapidly
advancing era, developments in cell, immune-based, and gene therapies are providing new
hope for many hematological disorders. Our conference seeks to address this gap and promote
progress in our field.
To stay current with global advances in hematology, our society has traditionally organized
conferences with international speakers every two years. Unfortunately, we have been unable to
hold such events for the past five years. To fill the gap, this meeting represents our effort to
resume academic activities, thanks to the support of various contributors and distinguished
speakers from around the world. The conference topics are designed to offer valuable updates
not only to hematologists, pathologists, oncologists, physicians, pediatricians, trainees and
nurses from Myanmar but also to those whoever joining the meeting.
The Union Minister and the Ministry of Health have consistently supported the continuing
education and professional development of medical personnel through academic societies. We
are very thankful for their unwavering encouragement and support.
This conference would not have been possible without the participation of faculty from
hematology societies across the world. We especially acknowledge the Global Speaker support
from the British Society of Haematology, as well as renowned speakers from hematology
societies from the Asia-Pacific region, particularly those from Haemostasis & Thrombosis
Societies, the Blood and Marrow Transplant Group, and Haematology Societies from India,
Thailand, and Malaysia who are coming in person and from America and Australia giving talks
virtually. We are deeply grateful and sincerely appreciate their invaluable help.
On behalf of the organizing committee, I warmly welcome all attendees—whether joining in
person or virtually— to this major event for our society. Your participation is essential to the
success of this conference.
Wishing the best to all the delegates,
Aye Aye Gyi
President, Myanmar Society of Haematology
